Have you ever wanted to take a vacation where you can relax and just go with the flow? One where you can decide what you are doing along the way and maybe switch up plans last minute just because you feel like it? If this sounds like you, an RV rental vacation would likely be the perfect match! Everyone should experience an RV adventure at least once in their lifetime.

Though you can relax a bit more in the long run, renting an RV does require a little bit of preparation to make your trip successful. Here are five tips for a successful RV rental:

1.  Decide on Size

There are several different sizes of camping vehicles. To choose the best size for your RV vacation, it is good to take into account who will be traveling, the amount of luggage, type of activities, if you have a proper tow vehicle for a trailer, and what you are comfortable driving. You will want space for everyone to sleep comfortably. You will also want enough room for everyone to be able to hang out inside during rainy weather and on cold nights. Let an employee at the rental company know your plans and they can help you if you are unsure of what size RV is ideal for your trip.

2. Plan Meals

While an RV does have a full kitchen, it is quite different from the one in your home. Having a plan of what meals you will make and how many you need to make them for will be helpful. Think of all types of meals and even snacks. Do you like to wake up and have a hot cup of coffee? Factor that in too. Also, think about clean up! Are you going to want to wash dishes or would it be a good idea to purchase paper plates that can be used as fire kindling?

3. Budget

Renting an RV is much cheaper than other modes of vacationing, but you will still want to make sure you are staying within your budget. Make sure you know all the costs associated with the rental such as insurance, gas, nightly campground fees, food, daily activities, etc.

4. Campsites

Though it’s possible to decide where you go spontaneously, you might want to choose some of your stops ahead of time seeing as you do want to make sure that there is a place to park the RV wherever it is that you’re going. It is fairly easy to google RV camping spots in most areas.

5. Be Prepared for Mishaps

With any vacation you embark on, you always need to take safety precautions and be prepared for emergency situations. When taking an RV vacation you will want to make sure you know how to check fluid levels, change a tire, who to call for help, etc. The company you rent from should make sure you know the answer to all of these before you leave the lot.
