Mt. Baker
Want to experience your first “White Room” (Powder so deep you can’t see)? Then you need to find Mt. Baker lodging that lets you stay right there at the slopes, and you can do that in an RV. Get Your White Room experience by waking up closer to the lifts, then hitting the powder while it’s fresh. Don’t rent a hotel and then drive to the hills each day. The only way to get first chair is with an RV-to-Ski Package from NW Adventure Rentals!
Follow State Route 542 in Northern Washington all the way to the north end and you will be at the Mt. Baker ski and snowboard area. This smaller 1000 acre ski and snowboard area is very popular with the locals especially those living in Whatcom County because of the large amount of snow and steep runs.
Why Mt. Baker?
It is always snowing at Mt. Baker, the snow here is a bit wetter than other ski areas around it, but Mt. Baker gets much more snow. Since it snows A LOT here fresh powder is a regular occurrence. Tip: go early to get the best powder because the wet snow gets tracked out. Mt. Baker ski and snowboard area is a great place for expert skiers and boarders, there are runs for the beginners and intermediate set as well, but the truly best runs are the steeps. The steeps are so popular that there is a “cult” following of sorts of local snowboarders who are pretty fun to watch because they are pretty good.

Mt. Baker RV Camping
The perfect choice for skiers that want to visit the “White Room” and have a warm, dry place to warm up between runs, is in a luxury RV with a Ski Package from NW Adventure Rentals, the best lodging at Mt. Baker. Hotels and cabins are ok, but with an RV you’ve got a place to relax at the end of the day, a warm place for lunch, and with our fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom and an entertainment center, you’ll have everything you need, all right there at the slopes!
Camping is free at Mt. Baker in the two designated areas for overnight parking. Check in at the Admin office is required upon arrival or the next morning if arriving at night. The main RV camping area is Heather Meadows just next to the Heather Meadows Lodge in the very back of the lot, but closest to base. If you are bringing a trailer and tow vehicle the trailer will need to be unhitched and tow vehicle parked as close to the trailer side as possible. There are no hookups available, fires are only allowed on the very edge of the lot near the snow bank and not on the asphalt. The Heather Meadows Lot is open 24/7. The White Salmon Lot is up near the maintenance buildings and is gated. It is only open 7am-5pm. RV spots are designated along the side by the snow bank not in the center.
Finding the lot: The lots at Baker can be a bit difficult to discover where the RV parking is. If you get lost the staff is friendly and willing to help. (There are actually two videos showing where to park on the website so watch them before you head up for the first time.) To park in Heather Meadows go into the main gate and pass the Mt. Baker ski area sign up the road into the lot and go all the way to the back. White Salmon is best found by watching the video or asking an attendant, but you should only need to access these spots if Heather Meadows is full.
