This enormous lava field located in central Idaho, was formed over the last 15,000 years by lava flows caused by a long series of eruptions. Craters of the Moon is an almost eerie landscape of black lava rock, and offers a variety of short walks, longer hikes, and even a series of caves to explore.
Stepping out of your RV rental is like stepping into another world, where you’ll find yourself in a seemingly barren, blackened landscape swept by invigorating winds. But look closer, or take a walk, and you’ll find there’s actually an abundance of flora and fauna. Wildflowers abound, and if you keep your eyes open, you may see chipmunks, marmots and maybe even the odd skunk or fox.
When you’ve had your fill of the natural beauty (and the wind), retreat to the comfort of your RV rental, put your feet up, and relax with a glass of wine, some fine chocolates and maybe your favorite movie!
